Katie Leimkuehler granddaughter of Paul E. Leimkuehler who was an avid supporter of prosthetics and orthotics and the first U.S. amputee skier who created the outrigger design. She is writing a screenplay about his great life accomplishments from losing is leg in WWII to overcoming it by creating his own artificial leg and eventually designing ski outriggers. He was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, Ski Hall of Fame and the Disabled Ski Hall of Fame for his accomplishments.
Katie Leimkuehler has currently entered a short trailer for her screenplay in the International Movie Trailer Festival that takes public votes into consideration. He truly lived an inspiring life and has left a legacy to his family and everyone he met. She would appreciate the chance to reach a broader audience and to tell his amazing story on the big screen.
Katie Leimkuehlers grandfather's accomplishment are something that could inspire the next generation and she hopes to do just that.
Take a look at the trailer and vote. This is a wonderful opportunity for Katie and adaptive sports.

Now we need to spread the word. Invite everyone you know, even invite people you don't know. Robert Redford says "The idea of working on a project that involves Warren Miller and his son Kurt was very appealing to me. The Warren Miller movies have defined the skiing culture for over sixty years and Warren's ski movies were part of what drove me to make Downhill Racer. The mountain can be tough to access even for the able-bodied. This project tells the stories of five people from all walks of life who found a way to experience a freedom they'd been told was impossible. They are an inspirations."
